As the Program Outreach Coordinator, Carey works to strengthen outreach efforts to immigrant communities in Baltimore, while engaging community stakeholders to increase awareness about MIMA initiatives and city services. She also facilitates connections between various community stakeholders, government agencies, non-profits, faith-based institutions and ethnic associations to better serve our diverse immigrant communities. As part of her role, she works with the International Rescue Committee on workforce development programs for refugees and asylees in the Baltimore area.
Before joining MIMA, Carey was a tenant organizer on affordable housing preservation and anti-displacement campaigns, worked with immigrant families experiencing homelessness, and provided case management services for newly arrived refugees. Carey holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Wellesley College.
